The triangle under a flight is the hardest storage in a house to build and the most useful once it's there. Pull-out runners, full-depth carcasses, fronts cut to the rake of the string.

The junctions.

Anyone can photograph a finished room. The work shows up where two things meet — a handle on a stile, a worktop turning a corner, a track carrying eighty kilos of oak.
